Indexing Update

Hello all --

I'm getting a head start on the March indexing update because there are so many indexers in our stake (350+) that the number of messages I can send in a day is limited. Everyone will get the same statistics, don't worry! Here are the latest numbers:
March records indexed: 37,066
March records arbitrated: 14,479
March total indexing effort: 51,545
YTD total indexing effort: 217,953

Remember, President Bair has invited indexers to set a personal goal of indexing at least 500 names during the next year. That will contribute greatly to our stake goal of indexing 750,000 names in 2012.

Only a few more days until the 1940 Census project becomes available for indexing! US Census records are typically easy to read and fairly quick to index. They are really nice for those of you who prefer to index using the "form entry" option which provides a grid that you can fill in one column at a time. But if you prefer to work horizontally and enter all the information about a single entry, feel free to use the "record entry" option. Did you know that Oregon will be one of the first 5 states to be rolled out on April 4? Other states and territories will follow. You should have received an email detailing the process for downloading 1940 Census batches (if not, let me know and I'll forward it to you). Remember, there are plenty of other records that need to be indexed as well!

Enjoy General Conference this weekend, and thank you for the time you spend as an indexing volunteer!
