Hi Book Club Gals - I hope you had a great Easter!

So we are discussing My Name is Mary Sutter this month.  We will be meeting at Sara Passey's place.  Many of you who have attended book club know Sara - she lives downtown.  Those interested in going can meet at my house at 7pm to car pool.  Please let me know if you plan to attend/carpool.

Thanks gals!

Indexing Update

Hello all --

I'm getting a head start on the March indexing update because there are so many indexers in our stake (350+) that the number of messages I can send in a day is limited. Everyone will get the same statistics, don't worry! Here are the latest numbers:
March records indexed: 37,066
March records arbitrated: 14,479
March total indexing effort: 51,545
YTD total indexing effort: 217,953

Remember, President Bair has invited indexers to set a personal goal of indexing at least 500 names during the next year. That will contribute greatly to our stake goal of indexing 750,000 names in 2012.

Only a few more days until the 1940 Census project becomes available for indexing! US Census records are typically easy to read and fairly quick to index. They are really nice for those of you who prefer to index using the "form entry" option which provides a grid that you can fill in one column at a time. But if you prefer to work horizontally and enter all the information about a single entry, feel free to use the "record entry" option. Did you know that Oregon will be one of the first 5 states to be rolled out on April 4? Other states and territories will follow. You should have received an email detailing the process for downloading 1940 Census batches (if not, let me know and I'll forward it to you). Remember, there are plenty of other records that need to be indexed as well!

Enjoy General Conference this weekend, and thank you for the time you spend as an indexing volunteer!

Senior Sisters' Luncheon - April 23

Stake Relief Society Senior Sisters Meeting and Lunch is Monday, April 23rd, 10 am at the Stake Center.  “Saints, Sand, and Souks – A Virtual Tour of the Middle East,” will be presented by Suzanne Walker.
Through photos and discussion we will penetrate the enigma of the Arabic-speaking realm, a land of beauty and magnificence, of piety and faith, and of curiosities and quirks.  The focus will be on Dubai, Oman, Syria, Jordan, and Lebanon.

*Note:  several "non-senior" sisters have expressed interest in attending.  The Stake welcomes attendees of any age!

Eyeglass Donations Needed - through May

Lacie Banton's niece is going on a medical service mission to Guatamala this summer and is collecting eyeglasses to take with her. They can be prescription, reading, or sunglasses.  Lacie will bring a basket to church to collect donations each week.  Thank you in advance for your help with this project!  Questions?  email Lacie at banton.girls@hotmail.com.
